Designer on the Rise

Starting April first, for the spring/summer 2007 seasons, I have been chosen as one of the stylebakery.com designers on the rise and will be featured on their site until the fall! I am very excited to receive this honor, and look forward to it.
http://www.stylebakery.com has been one of my favorite fashion/style sites for a while, and is extremely popular, especially in the U.S.
The site is regularily featured on shows such as "The View" and has been chosen as Glam magazines style site of the Year. Make sure you check them out!

Custom Bridal Jewellery

Well, it's bridal season again! I am just beginning to add my customizable bridal pieces to my site in the bridal section, so far there is a floating Swarovski pearl bracelet that can be ordered directly from the site, with all of the customizations included in the price, so you can have the colors, size and number of strands you want, with just a few mouse clicks. Custom jewelry made easy!

The designs I am using for these pieces will be some of the most popular designs (the floating style in particular is the most popular design for brides in my experience)

For further customization or matching pieces, please email me:)

My hope is that this will open a few more doors to brides that want custom jewellery, but just can't seem to find the time for a consultation.

Let me know what you think:)

Designers wanted

As some of you may have already seen on my site, our Church is sending a team into Uganda at the end of this summer to help in some of the areas where they are most needed. The area that the team is going to be needs schools, medical supplies, and help building a system off which they can build communities.
The goal is to take medical supplies, help them build a school, and set up a program for micro-loans to give the community a chance to start new. This part of the world has been torn apart by violence that is almost unimaginable from a North American point of view. We are so blessed over here, I feel priveleged to be able to be involved in helping people that have been left with nearly nothing.
That said:), a group of us from our Church is putting on an artisan fair at a local venue on April 28th, and we are sending out a call to artists for donations of their work (however large or small:) that we can put up in silent auctions, with all proceeds going to the Uganda trip.
I will be in charge of all of the artists' bios and showcases at the show, and am looking forward to taking this opportunity to showcase the work of the artists that participate and bring attention to their skill.
I will be listing all of the participating artists in this post as we go, and when all spots are filled, we will be ditributing hundreds of flyers to the Calgary and surrounding ares with information on each artist and how to contact them.
If you are interested in becoming one of our featured artists and donating a piece, please contact me through my website email at http://www.ellejule.com
Thanks for your participation!
We currently have 1 pending participant and are hoping for a total of 25.
We currently have 10 confirmed participants including me:)

First Contests

I thought it would be fun to kick off the new site with a couple of contests. They will both run until Febuary 12th, and then I will put all of the names into two hats and draw a winner for each. Sound good? Contest #1 will be for customers that have purchased one of my pieces in the past or recently, and contest #2 will be for everyone.

For contest one, please email me a short testimonial (a sentance or two) about the piece you purchased, and I'll enter your name into the draw for a pair of sterling and crystal earrings, which are pictured above, and a surprise piece:). The testimonials will be put on my testimonial page on ellejule.com.

For contest two, please sign my guestbook on ellejule.com and I will enter your name in the draw for the pair of crystal and sterling earrings in the bottom picture.

I have the winners!
The past customers set goes to Cheryl Q. of Canada,
the second set of earrings now belong to Kathryn from New Zealand!
Thanks for playing! Keep an eye out for more contests in the spring!

New site launched!

The new Elle Jule site is officially launched!
I will be adding new product over the next few weeks, so please keep checking back for news and new items.
My site was designed by Margaret Rose Designs http://www.mrosewebdesign.com and I am thrilled by this new system! It incorporates a guestbook, coupons, a news page with newsletter option and much more. I am so excited to have more ways to keep my customers updated and interactive with the site. As far as site design goes, I couldn't have found a better designer anywhere, Margaret is very accomodating and I couldn't beleive how determined she was to give me exactly what I was looking for.
Another good thing is that Margaret creates sites specifically for artists and crafters and her designs are very affordable. If you are looking for a site, I definitely recomend her services.

Totally Indie Coupons

I am participating in the second round of totally indie coupons by Indie/web designer Lindsay Landis. This service is great! Each round includes coupons for 30 Indie designers from all over North America. How it works is- Each designer submits a coupon for their site, then Lindsay puts them all together on sheets and mails every designer 125 of these sheets to be dstributed at shows, with orders or mailed out locally. For $50 dollars American, the exposure is more than worth it. Check it out at http://www.totallyindiecoupons.com

Sizing info

One of the most common questions I get from customers is how to measure for bracelets. I have this info on my site, but wanted to post it here as well. Having the right bracelet size is important for comfort, look and wear. There is a standard size that most bracelets are sized to, which is 7.5", although as we all know, not all sizes necessarily fit all. Which is another benefit to having a designer hand-make your jewelry for you- adjustments are a regular part of my work:)

When measuring your wrist make sure to use a thin string or a strip of paper to ensure the closest possible measurement. Once that measurement is taken, add 1- 1.25" to it and that is your bracelet size. For children add .5 inches.
Petite- 7"
Small- 7.25
Medium- 7.5
Large- 7.75
X-large- 8"

Craftersbuzz.com

I just wanted to share a good site with you all, I know how hard it is to get your site listed in the search engines and all the exposure you can get, the better! Especially when it's free!
Someone in one of the jewelry forums I am a member of tipped me off to craftersbuzz about 3 months ago, and so far, it's been worth it, your items rotate through the front page (I've actually seen mine there from time to time) and you basically open a gallery with pictures of your items which automatically all link back to your site, so when people click on a picture, they end up exactly where you want them to be. Check it out!

Holiday Jewellery

As I promised in my last post, these are a few of my most recent designs for the Holidays. The first is sterling silver chain and citrine briolettes,
the second is a combination of handmade glass beads, handmade sterling chain maille by Jennifer Casady (an extremely accomplished mailler:) and carnelian rondelles.
The third necklace is freshwater pearls, handmade glass, garnet and gold filled beads and clasp.
There is more to come in the next couple of weeks, so be sure to check back:)

Recently Sold

Well, it's just about that time again, and sales are picking up as proof. I've been offering specials on my 2006 stock to clear it out before the New Year, and at the same time offering some new items for the Holidays starting next week:) Some of these items include a couple of different versions of Salvation brcelets with Genuine Olive wood beads from Israel. *The wood is taken from branches that have fallen off of the trees naturally.
In addition, I'll have some classic Holiday styles, and a couple of fun surprises as well.

All of my shows will be in the next few weeks, and that means a lot of work for me, in an attempt to keep up, but very welcome all the same:)

These are just a few of my recently sold items, a couple of them are current favorites of mine.

Autumn 2006 jewelry

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've posted here, sorry about that, I've had a ton of things on the go!
I've had time however to create some new items for fall and these are a few examples of that.

The first item is made with boro beads and tons of Balinese silver, which was inspired by the transition from Summer to Autumn, with blues and rusts that compliment eachother very nicely.

The second item directly above is made with large bronzite ovals, freshwater pearls and a mix of Bali silver and Hilltribe silver in honour of the golden shades everywhere right now.

This last item is called "Autumn in Calgary", which is exactly the inspiration behind it. I have beautiful surroundings here and am very blessed to live in a city as beautiful and rich in nature as Calgary is. This is the first piece I've dedicated to Calgary and I'm so happy with it, that I'm sure it wont be the last.
